Top 10 eco-friendly initiatives at Dalton Park

Tuesday 21st September 2021

This week is the start of Recycle Week 2021 and here at Dalton Park we really care about sustainability, so it’s great to see our brand partners not only recycling waste across the centre, but also creating products which are fantastic quality (and sustainable too)!

Here are our top 10 eco-friendly products and initiatives from brand partners across the centre.

Radley Responsible – Did you know Radley have a beautiful range of handbags, purses and pouches fully made with recycled plastic bottles? Find them in the Radley outlet.

Craghoppers – Recycling is part of Craghopper’s fabric. By the end of 2021, Craghoppers will have recycled 50 million bottles, and one of their new autumn fleeces is made purely with 40 recycled bottles. That’s something to make you feel good about your purchase!

McDonald’s recycling pledge – McDonald’s are committed to making recycling simple. Since 2015 they’ve installed recycling units in over 1,000 of their UK restaurants (including Dalton Park), so it’s easier to separate your paper cups and plastics for recycling. The paper cups are sent to specialist recycling centres in the UK who make different recycled products from the fibre and plastic lining.

The Body Shop Shea Body Range – This intensely creamy Body Butter comes in recyclable packaging* made with an aluminium lid and 100% recycled plastic tub, including Community Fair Trade recycled plastic from India. This means you can love your planet every time you love that beautiful body. Visit our Body Shop page.

Tog24 – Recycled polyester fill. As a brand inspired by and focused on all that nature has to offer, Tog24 understand the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment. That’s why you’ll find a range of jackets insulated using our recycled polyester fill. Choose from puffer-style coats including ‘Helme’ and ‘Kearton’, filled with a high-performing thermal filler made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. Not only do these jackets look great and keep you warm, but they’ll also be saving plastic bottles from ending up in yet another landfill.

New Balance – look for the green leaf when shopping at New Balance, which means that the apparel meets the standard of 50% or more environmentally preferred materials, such as recycled or organic content.

Starbucks – the coffee chain partner with farmer owned co-operative Arla foods on a plastic recycling closed loop system, to ensure no additional plastic is added back into the supply chain from the dairy milk we use in their beverages. Empty dairy milk bottles are collected from stores then recycled into new plastic for the next milk bottle – avoiding the use of virgin plastic and the number of single-use materials.

TEMPUR® UKTempur are committed to improving recyclability. The brown boxes the mattresses come in are made from up to 78% recycled fibres, from the FSC Chain of Custody certified supplier. You’ll see the FSC and recycling logos printed on the box. FROM July 2021, TEMPUR® UK also sourced 100% of its electricity from renewable sources.

Dalton ParkDid you know that we have two huge solar panels on the roof at Dalton Park? Installed in July 2018, the 850 PV panels generate energy which is fed back into public areas in the Centre. Read more about our commitment to sustainability here.

Fat Face – From January last year, the lifestyle retailer has sustainably sourced its cotton, viscose and linen, and will recycle 100 per cent of the polyester it uses.

We’d love to hear if you’ve purchased any recyclable products at Dalton Park, or seen an initiative which deserves a green thumbs up. Tag us on Facebook or Instagram.
