Guest Blog | What to look out for at Student Shopping Night

If you haven’t already, sign up to the Dalton Park student shopping event here

My first top tip would be to plan ahead.

It’s easy to get to a student shopping event and feel overwhelmed by deals and worry about fomo if you don’t pick something up. Think about what you’re after before you go.
This might be flat essentials if you’ve just moved into student halls, or you’re renting a new flat with your mates going into your second or third year at university. That old pan isn’t going to replace itself and the cutlery that’s gone missing, I’m sorry to tell you, but whoever nicked it isn’t going to one day bring it back. Luckily ProCook have an extra 20% off so you can stock up on some new kitchen items that will make meal times a breeze.
Maybe you’re sorted for your kitchenware, but you’re missing those soft towels from home. Bedeck and Christy have an extra 10% off so you’re bound to find some cosy towels and maybe some new bedding too for Autumn.
The Body Shop are offering a huge 40% off when you buy 4 items or more, so why not start your Christmas shopping early. Their gift sets always go down a treat whether you’re buying for a friend, sibling or maybe your brother’s girlfriend. Already boxed up, all you need to do is as a label and you’re sorted – so you’ve saved on the wrapping too. Coconut is a winner for me. If you’re looking for some new skincare, I’d recommend trying out the Oils of Life range for a real treat. Tea Tree if you like that fresh and super clean feeling, Vitamin E for something nourishing and neutral scented or Seaweed if you’re prone to oiliness.

My second tip is to stick to a budget.

If you’re buying home items, make sure you keep aside a small amount to treat yourself too. It could be a bath bomb or something from one of the top make up brands stocked in Beauty Outlet or some gym gear from Adidas and New Balance.
Maybe you really want to get some new jeans for the colder months. If so, you need to get along to Levi’s. They’re offering a whopping extra 30% off and with free alterations available on their jeans, you can get that perfect fit. This time of year they have plenty hoodies and sweatshirts too, great for layering up and looking stylish on campus.
Lads, got a formal coming up or fancy picking up a new suit? Head along to the mall and check out Moss who have an extra 15% off, or Suit Direct who have an extra 20% off too. Now you can be suave, and a little smug, knowing you’ve bagged a bargain.
If you’ve got any field trips coming up, be sure to visit some of the outdoor stores on the mall. Regatta and Craghoppers have an extra 15% off during the exclusive shopping event. Trespass and Mountain Warehouse are offering an extra 10% discount so you’ll be kitted up with all the trek essentials in no time.

Third tip – why not get some dinner after shopping?

Frankie and Benny’s have 20% off their main menu and Pizza Express have 30% off if you show your student ID. Now that sounds better than cooking when you get home, right? If you’re after something on-the-go, get a footlong sub from Subway for £3.99.
Not in a rush to get back? Go check out one of the latest films at Cineworld; Venom, A Star is Born, A Simple Favour or even Johnny English Strikes Again. If you love film Cineworld are also running a special offer where you get £10 off the first month when you sign up to their Unlimited membership. See any film any time as many times as you like!
Happy shopping! Be sure to tag Dalton Park on instagram with your bargains so we can see what you found on the mall. @Dalton_Park
